Message From Inspector 1144 Head

It has been a particularly busy weekend across West Lindsey, so as always, I wanted to provide you with an update.

Before covering the incidents of note, I would like to address some feedback I have received regarding the format of these updates. I have been asked whether it would be possible to provide separate updates for individual towns or villages.

While I appreciate the reasoning behind that suggestion, I intend to continue providing a district-wide overview. My aim is to give residents a broader understanding of the range of incidents and demands being managed by neighbourhood policing teams across West Lindsey, while also recognising the work officers undertake throughout the district.

A more localised approach can sometimes make it difficult to see the wider picture, particularly when resources are required to respond to incidents occurring across multiple communities. By sharing a district-wide update, I hope to provide greater context around policing activity and the factors that influence how resources are deployed.

I want these updates to be as useful and relevant as possible for the communities they are intended to serve. Feedback from residents is always welcome, and I genuinely appreciate hearing different perspectives on what information people would like to see included, how updates could be improved, or what helps them better understand local policing activity.

While I may not be able to accommodate every suggestion, I carefully consider all feedback received and use it to help shape future updates. These updates are for our local communities, and I am keen that they remain an effective way of keeping you informed and connected with the work being carried out across West Lindsey. Working together and maintaining an open dialogue is the best way to achieve that.

Incidents of Note

Burglary - High Street, Scotton

On 8th of September 2026, officers received a report of a burglary at a residential property on High Street, Scotton.

It was reported that entry had been gained through a patio window while the occupants were away from home and a quantity of jewellery was stolen.

Enquiries remain ongoing.

Assault - Bowling Green Road, Gainsborough

On 9th of September 2026, officers were called to reports of an assault on Bowling Green Road, Gainsborough.

It is alleged that a male was assaulted by another male using a weapon. The victim sustained injuries which, fortunately, were assessed as minor. Investigations into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing.

Affray and Bladed Article Offence - Union Street, Market Rasen

On 12th of September 2026, police received reports of a disturbance involving individuals on Union Street, Market Rasen.

Officers attended and made swift enquiries. As a result, Joshua Holmes, 27, of Benson Close, Lincoln, has been charged with affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He was remanded to appear before Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court. The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. 

Theft from Motor Vehicle - Church Street, Gainsborough

On 12th of September 2026 at approximately 8.55am, a theft from a motor vehicle was reported on Church Street, Gainsborough.

It is alleged that offenders damaged a vehicle before stealing a quantity of jewellery and leaving the area.

Officers are continuing enquiries to establish the circumstances of the offence and identify those responsible.

Vehicle Theft - Fillingham Close, Gainsborough

On 13th September 2026, a Jaguar vehicle was reported stolen from Fillingham Close, Gainsborough.

A vehicle believed to be the stolen Jaguar was later located in Kirton Lindsey after being significantly damaged by fire. Officers are continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
